Readers respond: Portlanders no longer nice enough to fool

Every few years, I am reminded of a letter I wrote to The Oregonian’s editorial section, perhaps thirty-five years ago. I thought about it today. The author continued by expressing how happy they were to be here after moving here from New York. Additionally, the author said that Portlanders are so kind that you can force your way into anything. We have changed as a result of such impact.
