Commercial crab season on north Oregon coast to open next week

Commercial Dungeness crab fishing will resume on January 15 from Cape Falcon north to Klipsan Beach, Washington, following an original postponement.

Following delays brought on by low meat yields and high domoic acid levels in preseason testing, the commercial Dungeness crab fishery from Cape Falcon to the California border reopened on December 16. North of Cape Falcon, a fourth round of preseason testing currently satisfies the best commercial harvest requirements.

Cape Falcon lies south of Arch Cape and north of Manzanita. Halfway up the Long Beach peninsula is Klipsan Beach.
