Man who died in crash near Tigard Dec. 30 identified

The guy who died in a car accident on December 30 while traveling on Oregon 99W was recognized by Tigard police on Wednesday.

At approximately 12:35 a.m., Hayden Hackney, 21, was operating a sedan on Oregon 99W at Southwest Canterbury Lane when he struck Jason Burgess, 40, in a Ford F150.

At the scene, Hackney was declared deceased. According to Tigard police, Burgess was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree manslaughter, DUI, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving.

According to court documents, Burgess entered a not guilty plea to the DUI, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving counts after Washington County prosecutors dropped the manslaughter accusation.
