Air stagnation advisory issued for Oregon until Friday morning

The National Weather Service issued an air stagnation advisory for the Oregon Lower Treasure Valley, as well as Harney, Baker, and Malheur counties, on Monday at 11:58 a.m. The advisory was in effect from 10 p.m. until Friday at 10 a.m.

“A prolonged period of stagnant air, with light winds and little vertical mixing,” the meteorological agency notes. This is because pollutants will continue to be trapped by an inversion close to the surface.

According to the weather service, “people with respiratory problems may experience problems due to poor air quality.” “Persons with respiratory illness should follow their physicians advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution during periods of stagnant air.”

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
