Prosecutors: Paroled Individual Allegedly Involved in Rolls-Royce Carjacking, Recorded Video with Vehicle

In Beverly, Chicago, a recent carjacking involving a Rolls-Royce has led to serious legal ramifications for 19-year-old Trevon Robinson, who stands accused alongside an accomplice. The incident, which occurred on June 27 in the 9100 block of South Hoyne Avenue, saw a gunman emerging from a dark-colored SUV to forcibly take a 2017 Rolls-Royce Wraith from a 54-year-old woman at gunpoint. Typically valued at over $160,000, the car was a significant target in the crime.

Authorities managed to track down the SUV used in the hijacking through a license plate reader near 210 West 51st Street. Covert police units, part of Chicago’s carjacking task force, observed Robinson exiting the vehicle and entering a Foot Locker at 4715 South Ashland Avenue, where he was subsequently apprehended by uniformed officers. Further investigation revealed that the SUV itself had been carjacked earlier on June 8 from another woman in a separate incident on East 95th Street.

Prosecutors detailed that Robinson had recorded a video of himself following the stolen Rolls-Royce on the day of the hijacking. Additionally, a note containing the victim’s home address was allegedly found on Robinson’s phone, further implicating him in the crime. As a result, Robinson faces charges of armed vehicular hijacking related to the Rolls-Royce incident, though charges for the earlier SUV theft were not included in the complaint.

Robinson’s legal history adds complexity to the case, as court records indicate he had pleaded guilty to aggravated unlawful use of a weapon earlier this year. Despite reporting to Stateville Correctional Center and subsequently being released on parole, his involvement in the recent carjacking has prompted state officials to seek revocation of his parole status.

Judge Deidre Dyer ordered Robinson’s detention, citing concerns over public safety given the nature of the charges against him. The case underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address carjacking incidents across Chicago, particularly those involving high-value vehicles targeted for theft.
