At 9:41 p.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service issued a revised strong wind warning for the Foothills of the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon, which was in effect from 10 p.m. until Tuesday at 7 a.m.
“South to southeast winds 35 to 50 mph with gusts 50 to 70 mph expected for the base of the northern Blue Mountains of Oregon,” according to the weather service. “Strong and damaging winds will be observed along Interstate 84 from Pendleton to Cabbage Hill, as well as Highway 11 from Pendleton to Milton-Freewater.”
Trees and electricity wires will be toppled by damaging winds. The weather agency warns that travel will be challenging, particularly for well-known automobiles. Keep an eye out for tree limbs and other debris. If you have to drive, exercise caution.
