Woman stabs hotel employee and guest in NE Portland, police say

According to police, a 19-year-old Portland woman attacked a hotel staff member and a hotel visitor early on Monday morning in Northeast Portland.

According to a statement from the Portland Police Bureau, at 3:24 a.m., a hotel employee in the 1400 block of Northeast 2nd Avenue contacted 911 to report that a woman had stabbed her and was damaging hotel property. The Crowne Plaza is the sole hotel on that street.

After apprehending Shanai Daniel, officers provided medical assistance to both a hotel employee and a visitor. According to investigators, neither victim’s injuries were life-threatening.

Daniel is accused of robbery, burglary, assault, attempted murder, and unlawful use of a weapon. Tuesday afternoon is the scheduled time for her arraignment.
