Young Thug's Legal Team Alleges Judge Took on Prosecutor Role, Alleges Potential Criminal Conduct

In a significant legal development, Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, and his defense attorneys have launched a scathing attack on Judge Ural Glanville of the Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta. The rapper’s legal team, led by Brian Steel and Keith Adams, filed a motion demanding the immediate release of their client, a mistrial declaration, and the disqualification of Judge Glanville from overseeing the YSL racketeering conspiracy trial.

According to a detailed court filing obtained by Rolling Stone, Young Thug’s lawyers allege that Judge Glanville engaged in unethical conduct during a secret meeting with key prosecution witness Kenneth “Woody” Copeland. The transcript of this meeting, recently unsealed, purportedly reveals coercive tactics employed by the judge alongside prosecutors to compel Copeland’s testimony. The defense claims that this interaction, which excluded them, violated judicial ethics and transformed Judge Glanville into a de facto member of the prosecution team.

The controversy stems from accusations that Judge Glanville and the prosecuting attorneys, Adriane Love and Simone Hylton, withheld information about the meeting and subsequently obstructed attempts by the defense to uncover details, labeling their actions as a cover-up. Young Thug’s defense team asserts that such behavior undermines the fairness of the trial and infringes upon their client’s constitutional rights to a fair trial and due process.

The legal motion, spanning over 233 pages, condemns Judge Glanville’s alleged misconduct as grounds for immediate relief for Jeffery Williams, arguing that his continued incarceration without fair judicial oversight amounts to a violation of his rights. The defense also seeks transparency regarding any other potential unauthorized communications that may have influenced the trial proceedings.

Young Thug, along with five co-defendants, faces serious charges related to a RICO indictment involving multiple homicides, including the 2015 murder of Donovan Thomas. The defense contends that the alleged impropriety surrounding Judge Glanville’s actions has irreparably tainted the trial’s integrity, necessitating corrective measures to restore justice.
