California’s San Jose. On Saturday night, No. 10 Oregon defeated Stanford 76-61, led by a team-high 13 points from Kwame Evans Jr., who made 10 free throws.
Evans led the Ducks (11-1) in a balanced scoring onslaught despite only making one 3-pointer and one other basket from the field. Nine players in Oregon scored at least five points, with Jackson Shelstad contributing ten more.
Maxime Raynaud led the Cardinals (9-3) with 20 points and 13 rebounds, ending their three-game winning streak.
With Stanford now in the ACC and Oregon in its first season in the Big Ten, this was the first nonconference meeting between the old Pac-12 rivals since the 1967 Portland Far West Classic.
The Ducks took an 11-point lead with a 16-3 surge in the first half and were never challenged in the second half as they won.
Oregon: The Ducks easily won, maintaining their undefeated nonconference record and their highest ranking since 2020.
Stanford: Under first-year coach Kyle Smith, the Cardinals had gotten off to a strong start to the season, but they had not yet seen a team as good as Oregon.
Before Oregon finished with a 9-0 run over the final six minutes to take a 36-19 advantage at the half, Stanford came within eight points late in the first half.
The Ducks outscored the Cardinals 22–7 from the foul line and limited Stanford to 8–for-30 3-point shooting.
Stanford’s second ACC game is against Clemson on January 1, while Oregon hosts Weber State on December 29.
