The Oregonian/OregonLive examined the girls basketball teams in the Central Valley Conference in great detail last week.
It’s time to examine each of the district’s top players in greater detail this winter.
Patricia Mike, McNary’s senior
Class 5A’s McKay, who made the all-conference second team, is Mike’s introduction to McNary. She is an excellent floor general and a cunning scorer, according to newly hired coach Brittany Dunn, who also praised her for quickly establishing herself on the Celtics squad.
Junior Aubrey Adams, McNary
Adams, who received honorable mention the previous season, gives the Celtics accurate shooting. According to Dunn, the guard’s basketball IQ is particularly noteworthy, which has helped her grow into a valuable defensive player for our squad.
Senior Sofie Schurr, McNary
As a junior, Schurr joined Adams on the honorable mention list. She is a versatile player who can play both guard and forward. Dunn added that she has the defensive prowess to protect both posts and guards in addition to her ability to rebound and shoot.
Senior Hailey Carbajal of McNary
Carbajal is aware of her crucial role for the Celtics. The team’s defensive specialist is the senior guard. Dunn claimed that she is a left-handed danger, a leader, and a defender of the opposition’s top player.
Junior Carly Skogstad of Sprague
As a junior, the point guard won a berth on the all-conference first team, demonstrating Skogstad’s dominance in the Central Valley. But according to coach Andy Sydow, she is not just among the greatest players in the conference but also among the best guards in the state.
Senior Jocelyn Neufer of Sprague
One of the two exceptional post players for the Olympians is Neufer. Because of her natural strength, Sydow observes the senior giving other players fits inside.
Junior Addison Hannant, Sprague
Hannant joins Neufer down low, forming a formidable inside duo for the Olympians. Hannant is known for her rebounding and aptitude for scoring in close.

Addison Almero, senior, Sprague
Almero is a nice fit next to Skogstad. She can play both guard and wing, is a great shooter from beyond the arc and brings hard nosed defense, said Sydow.
Brook Tate, junior, South Salem
Tate made all-conference second team as a sophomore. The forward averaged 10.6 points and seven rebounds per game last season. She can post up, attack from the perimeter and shoot the three ball, said coach Adrian Lewis.
Emma Burlison, junior, South Salem
Burlison also made the all-conference second team as a sophomore, turning in 8.3 points and 5/7 rebounds per game. Emma works hard and will never quit, Lewis said of the wing. She has a great motor.
Brezlyn Schwalm, senior, South Salem
Schwalm was an honorable mention as a junior, contributing 7.1 points per outing. Her role is a clear one. Lewis said the guard, who made over half of her three-pointers a year ago, is a lights out shooter.
Emma Zuniga, junior, West Salem
Zuniga won conference player of the year as a sophomore as is the Central Valley s top player. A second-team all-state wing/forward, she plays both inside and out in driving the Titans success. Emma leaves everything on the floor and is a great vocal leader for us, coach Katie Singleton said.
Chica Casas, junior, West Salem
Chica Casas runs point for the Titans and landed on the all-conference first team as a sophomore. She controls the game, protects the ball, and sees the floor very well, said Singleton. She is one of our best defenders and has developed into a great leader as well.
Sami Griffin, junior, West Salem
Griffin is another cog in the well-oiled machine that is the Titans junior class. An all-conference honorable mention last season, she s one of the team s top rebounders and finishers. She works really hard on both sides of the ball, Singleton said.
