Oregon State bolsters offense with addition of BYU tight end transfer Jackson Bowers

Jackson Bowers, a tight end for Brigham Young, was Oregon State’s second transfer commit, which helped the Beavers’ 2025 offense.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Bowers still has three years of eligibility left after playing for BYU for two years. Bowers joins Maalik Murphy, the quarterback for Duke, who said earlier Thursday that he would be transferring to Oregon State.

Growing up in Mesa, Arizona, Bowers participated in five games during his time at BYU. For the Cougars, he failed to catch a pass.

Bowers had over two dozen offers from high schools, including those from Texas, Auburn, Arizona, Alabama, Oregon, and Washington. Bowers was ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 22 tight end and a 4-star prospect for the 2023 class.

In the last week, Bowers has become the fifth player to declare a transfer to Oregon State. In addition to Murphy, he joins defensive tackle Tah-jae Mullix of Western Carolina, offensive lineman JT Hand of Arizona, and Keyon Cox of Central Florida.

After Jermaine Terry II, Oregon State’s top tight end, graduated, Bowers fills a significant void for the Beavers.
