TriMet extends free fare program for soccer fans taking transit to games

According to a statement from TriMet, Timbers and Thorns supporters will continue to be able to utilize their game tickets as TriMet fare on game days until at least 2026.

The program’s extension, which is the outcome of a collaboration between TriMet and the soccer teams, was announced by TriMet nearly ten months after it began on February 24.

Concert tickets will also be accepted as payment for transportation starting in 2025 for commuters attending performances at Providence Park.

Up to three hours prior to or following the event, riders can utilize their event tickets as payment; TriMet takes both printed and smartphone-based digital tickets.
