Oregon football signee Dallas Wilson requests release from Ducks, plans to sign with Florida

One of the top recruits from the 2025 class is expected to leave the Oregon Ducks.

Five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson is making an unusual request to have his financial aid records with Oregon football released. Wilson plans to play with Florida instead. After being heavily pursued by the Gators, Wilson signed with the Ducks on early national signing day. He is now looking to leave Oregon and stay in his home state.

In high school football recruiting, verbal pledges sometimes alter their minds, although it is uncommon for a player to do so after signing a contract. Wilson’s request for release is due on Thursday, and according to several stories from recruiting sources, the Ducks are likely to accept it.

Wilson, a native of Tampa, Florida, is ranked by 247Sports’ composite rankings as the nation’s fourth-best wide receiver and 20th-best athlete overall. Since January 2023, he had verbally committed to the Ducks, and considering the long-standing interest of in-state universities like Florida and Miami, some in the recruiting community were surprised by his final signing.

After five-star cornerback Naeem Offord (Alabama) and wide receiver Dakorien Moore (Texas), Wilson is the third-highest-rated recruit in Oregon’s 2025 class. According to 247Sports, Oregon has the second-best recruiting class overall after 21 athletes signed with the Ducks earlier this month.
