Police in the Portland region are alerting Honda owners that thieves may target their vehicles specifically in search of a particular electronic component.
According to a statement from the Portland Police Bureau, 18 incidents of the part being taken from the front of Honda vehicles have been made since mid-November. Police refused to identify the component.
According to investigators, thieves stole the item from 16 cars on a nearby car dealership’s lot in one instance.
The majority of the thefts, according to police, have taken place in Southeast Portland between Southeast Stark Street and Woodstock Boulevard and between Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard and Southeast 82nd Avenue, though they have happened throughout the Portland region.
If at all feasible, police advise Honda owners to park their vehicles in garages or well-lit spots and to restrict access to the front of the vehicle.
Additionally, police want anybody with knowledge about a theft or who has been the victim of Honda parts theft to send an email to [email protected].
