Nike extends partnership with the NFL

The NFL announced on Wednesday that it and Nike have reached an agreement to extend their collaboration for another ten years.

Since 2012, the Beaverton-based clothing company has been the sole supplier of uniforms, practice wear, and base layer clothing to all 32 NFL clubs; the agreement will be extended through 2038. The NFL temporarily allowed rivals and other businesses to participate in the bidding process before granting the extension.

In a statement, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said, “Nike has been a tremendous partner since 2012, and we are thrilled to have them on board for years to come.” Nike is a strategic partner that will help us expand football globally, assist youth football, and advance player safety in addition to providing goods and services for our clubs, players, or supporters.

Like Major League Baseball, the NBA, and college football, Nike has also contributed to the NFL’s trend for different uniforms. The NFL has loosened its regulations on helmet and uniform designs, enabling teams to propose different combinations. Players and fans complained that Nike’s uniforms were see-through when the company debuted them with Major League Baseball in 2024.
