2 changes Dan Lanning would like to see made to the College Football Playoff

The format and the way teams are seeded are not two of the two adjustments Dan Lanning would like to see made to the College Football Playoff.

The coach of Oregon would like that the top seeds play at home during the playoffs until the national title game, and that there be less time off between conference championship games and the CFP.

This year’s on-campus first round CFP games are scheduled for December 20–21, while the conference title games took place on December 6-7. The Rose, Fiesta, Peach, and Sugar Bowls will host the quarterfinals on December 31 and January 1; the Cotton and Orange Bowls will host the semifinals on January 9–10; and Atlanta will host the national championship game on January 20.

Though I try to concentrate on the things I can manage, I think about a lot of things.Lanning stated on Greg McElroy’s show Always College Football. In my opinion, it would look fantastic for the playoffs if we didn’t take such lengthy breaks in between games. It’s fantastic for recuperation, in my opinion. However, I find it extremely strange that the championship game takes place in the middle of January, when classes have already begun and newcomers have moved in, if everyone is facing the same obstacle. Simply said, none of it seems to match our map.

According to my understanding, the championship game would be unthinkable if it took place on January 1. Up to that game, the teams that have positioned themselves actually have home games. I think that would make a lot of sense. However, I believe that many bowlers would be extremely irritated by that.

On January 1 at 2 p.m. (ESPN), the victor of the Rose Bowl between No. 8 Ohio State and No. 9 Tennessee will face No. 1 Oregon (13-0). In the Cotton Bowl, the victor of that matchup will face the winner of No. 4 Arizona State and No. 5 Texas/No. 12 Clemson.

Lanning stated, “We are thrilled to play in the Rose Bowl.” The Rose Bowl is somewhere I’ve never been. We’ll enjoy that, but this won’t be your typical bowl game setting either. You recall the times when you planned your trip to Disney (land) five days in advance. Hey, we’re having another game week. Come on, let’s play football. I’m sure we’ll have a good supper somewhere. I’m sure we’ll have other things to do, but until we can get on the field and play that game, I’ll be imprisoned in that hotel.
