Hong Huynh, 75, of Portland, has been identified by Portland police as the pedestrian who died in a collision in Southeast Portland on Wednesday morning.
Around 6:45 a.m., officers arrived at the scene of the collision, which occurred close to Southeast 109th Avenue and Division Street. According to authorities, they discovered Huynh dead after he was hit by a car.
According to police, the motorist, 38-year-old April M. Oneal of Scappoose, stayed at the site and assisted investigators. Oneal subsequently received a citation for allegedly driving recklessly.
According to police, Huynh’s death was the 67th traffic-related death in Portland this year, bringing the total number of road fatalities to 69 last year, the highest in more than 30 years.
