2 Portland lawyers must respond to subpoenas in inquiry into secret romantic relationship between ex-judge and Texas attorney, judge rules

A federal judge in Oregon has ordered a Texas law company to provide the emails and documents it exchanged with two ethics lawyers in Portland who were recruited to advise the firm on how to deal with the fallout from a covert love relationship between one of its partners and a bankruptcy judge.

According to U.S. District Judge Amy Baggio’s 21-page ruling, the company repeatedly and blatantly waived privilege, so it can no longer assert that any attorney-client privilege exists to protect the data from a federal watchdog’s examination.
