Oregon’s traffic fatalities thus far in 2025 are equal to those in the same brief period last year, with one person dying Saturday and another Tuesday in separate collisions.
At around 3:05 p.m., Victor Joseph Cianci, 74, of Florence, was murdered after his Ferrari GTB jumped the center line of Oregon 126 in Lane County at a high speed, collided with a guard rail, and flipped, landing in a pond, according to a statement from the Oregon State Police.
According to the authorities, Cianci was pronounced deceased at the scene.
At around 8:49 a.m. on Saturday, Eduardo Flores Alvarez, 34, of Pendleton, passed away after rolling his Ford F-250 on Interstate 84 close to milepost 179 in Umatilla County, according to authorities.
First responders discovered Alvarez’s body in the median after he was ejected from his truck after the collision; according to authorities, Alvarez was pronounced dead at the site. Alvarez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, according to ODOT data.
According to data from the Oregon Department of Transportation, there have been nine traffic-related fatalities in Oregon so far this year, three of which have been pedestrians. Nine people had died in road accidents in Oregon by this time last year.
