This Christmas, some Illinois families will face disappointment as two cherished holiday events have been canceled for 2024. The Polar Express train ride at Chicago’s Union Station, a favorite holiday tradition, has been shelved due to ongoing construction at the station.
Known for enchanting children and adults alike, this immersive experience has been a staple of the holiday season. The hope is for its return in 2025 once construction is complete.
Another beloved event, the Christkindlmarket at Wrigley Field, will also not take place this year. The historic venue, which typically hosts this festive German-style market, will instead be preparing for the NHL Winter Classic.
With limited space, organizers had to make the tough decision to cancel the market at Wrigley for the year.
