LAURINBURG, NC – An 18-year-old male was killed and two teenagers were critically injured Thursday night after being shot at while riding an ATV, according to Laurinburg police.
Around 8 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Deluca Street and Berry Street due to reports of gunfire.
An inquiry found that an 18-year-old male was driving the ATV with two passengers: a 13-year-old youngster and a 14-year-old child.

According to authorities, two guys on an ATV passed the group on Deluca Street and opened fire, striking the 13-year-old. This caused the 18-year-old, Zahquan Stewart, to lose control of the ATV and smash into a tree.

Stewart died, and the two adolescent lads were brought to the hospital in bad condition.
Capt. Chris Young told WMBF News that authorities can only confirm the 13-year-old was shot during the incident, the 14-year-old’s injuries were caused by the ATV collision, and Stewart’s cause of death is still unknown.
