17-year-old slain at Gresham park identified; no arrests made

Jorge Ovidio Mateo Vasquez, 17, was identified by Gresham police on Monday as the victim of the deadly shooting that occurred at a Gresham park last week.

After responding to reports of a shooting at Vance Park on Southeast 182nd Avenue in Gresham, officers discovered Vasquez dead at the scene at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday. According to authorities, the shooter had already left.

Crime scene tape and Gresham police cruisers were visible in the footage taken close to the park’s futsal courts.

The shooting is still being looked into by Gresham police.

There haven’t been any additional homicides in Gresham this year. On January 20, a late-night gunshot at the Campbell Park apartments on Northeast Rene Avenue left one person gravely injured.
