1 dead, 2 seriously injured in Linn County crash

A two-vehicle collision on Highway 228 in Linn County on Friday night claimed a woman’s life and critically injured two others.

According to Oregon State Police, an Acura SUV piloted by Alisha Rowlett, also of Sweet Home, was struck by a Dodge pickup driven by Michael Halsell, 36, of Sweet Home, as it crossed into the westbound lane on the highway while going east. The collision happened close to milepost 16 at around 5:00 p.m.

At the scene, Rowlett, 44, was declared deceased. Halsell and her passenger suffered severe injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.

There is an ongoing inquiry into the crash.
